Jill Rose and I had the good fortune to meet each other on the first day of fourth grade, and even then one of our favorite subjects was food. Of course, in those days, the hot topics were Twinkies and cheese curls.
Jill and I stayed close through high school and beyond, with Jill staying in the Boston area and moving back to our home town in the ’90s. I ventured slightly farther afield and would never have predicted that twenty years later, I would be moving back not only to the North Shore, but around the corner from my fourth-grade pal.
When I returned to the area, I was surprised to find few decent Web resources for restaurant and food information north of Boston, and I ended up reaching out to Jill and other local friends for recommendations. In recent years, the food and restaurant scene on the North Shore has exploded, but it doesn’t get the media attention it deserves, seeming to always take a back seat to Boston area eateries.
Jill and I had many discussions about local restaurants and specialty shops (cheese curls rarely enter the conversation these days) and decided to share our experiences, believing that there are others out there like us—both residents and day trippers—looking for information on where and what to eat in the area.
At North Shore Dish, we post about all our experiences; the good, the bad, and the who-knew. Whether it’s gourmet dining or a hole-in-the-wall, if we’ve tasted it, we’ll dish up the inside scoop.
